A Matter of Honor

Title and Author: A Matter of Honor by Abigail Reynolds
Type: Pride and Prejudice Alternate Path
Perspective: Darcy and Elizabeth
Romance Level: passionate kissing
Recommended: yes, 3 star
Access: available through Kindle Unlimited

Summary: What if Elizabeth disappeared in scandal shortly after returning from Hunsford? What if Darcy and Bingley return to Netherfield only to find no one will talk to them. With little to no information, Darcy desperately tries to discover what has become of Elizabeth. He fears the worst but hopes her can find her and rescue her. This takes a pretty significant turn from the original, taking the pair into Scotland and a new life for Elizabeth with a long lost aunt. Can Darcy convince Elizabeth to return with him?

Things I Liked:
* Darcy goes to great lengths to find Elizabeth. He really knows he loves her by the time he convinces her.
* The addition of several characters were interesting, including an aunt to Elizabeth and a cousin to Darcy.
* The addition of Scottish traditions and plot line were fun, if far fetched.

Things I Didn't Like:
*  Both Darcy and Elizabeth's families are awful in this telling. I especially didn't like Mr. Bennett and Colonel Fitzwilliam.
* Toward the end, it became really fantastical and all the problems solved, breaking all the taboos.
* Elizabeth clings to her idea of what needs to happen for a ridiculously long time and it drags. Once the problems start to be resolved, they do so quite easily.

This was fun, but purists steer clear.
