In Search of Happiness

Title and Author: In Search of Happiness by Nicky Roth
Type: Pride and Prejudice Alternate Path
Perspective: Darcy and Elizabeth
Romance Level: Regency level
Recommended: No, 2 stars
Summary: Mr. Darcy is weary of life as a gentleman, so he leaves London and hides out as a laborer in Hertfordshire. Will love bloom between Darcy and Elizabeth when it is he that is beneath her?

Pros:
* This was a unique premise and it was nice to see our couple slowly get to know each other.
* The Darcy is not proud (part of what makes it so hard to believe).

Cons:
* This was too far fetched to me. It is hard to believe Mr. Darcy would hide out and work as a laborer. It is even harder to imagine it reaching the ridiculous point where he is revealed.
* There were no character from Darcy's family in this story (beyond letters) and it is difficult to imagine how this choice went unnoticed by the family.
* It skips over the whole courting and betrothal period which was disappointing.
